Really enjoyed Felix R Savage new space opera book,The Reluctant Adventures of Fletcher Connolly on the Interstellar Railroad Vol. 1 Skint Idjit, Good writing. Interesting characters. Plausible science. And a bit of fun quirkiness. I am now hooked on this new series. Already looking forward to the next one.
I have been enjoying most of Savage series and the Reluctant Adventures have been a bit diferent but enjoyable enough for me to buy and read the next in the series. It presents a strange sense of humor which I am not used to but it is not distracting and fun to read. This is more of an enjoyable read rather than a galactic one but character development is there and i recommend this as a light read for sci-fi lovers.
Vampire butterflies, bunny suits, Irish potato farmers, a blended-wing Boeing, Elephant's colors of black and fiery red, and on and on. Book made my mind spin much like the series "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" so all I can say is buckle up as you're in for one wild spaced-out ride!
This was my first F.R. Savage book and I enjoyed reading it. The character development is good and the plot is fun. I thought it was a bit predictable, but I read a LOT of this type of story! There were some neat "creatures" and some fun technology, so don't pass it up if you like space opera type of reading!
As with every book I read, I go into it with an open mind. This book jumped right in and made itself at home!
I found the dialog credible and to the point, the descriptions clear and concise, and the plot quite engrossing.
The setting for the book is one I have never encountered in my forty-six years of reading, and that's saying something. At the end of the book, I had this empty feeling I wanted more!
In addition to all that, I live in the United States, so I have read few books that portray Irish characters so well. It gave me insight into what is (hopefully) working-class Ireland, albeit from a science-fictional standpoint.
Congratulations on giving a somewhat jaded reader a real treat!
Rubbish With Names is a fun scifi romp through Weekend at Bernie’s. I picked up Skint Idjit somewhere, and saw that there was a newsletter signup to get this prequel, so I figured, “what the hay,” and went for it. Absurdist humor is often hit or miss, and I enjoyed Rubbish With Names.
I’d originally planned on reading Skint Idjit over two days, but couldn’t sleep, and ended up finishing it in one setting. Skint Idjit is a little more serious than Rubbish With Names, but not light on what I’ve come to expect from Absurdist humor puns, juxtaposition, and ridiculous situations. A perfect short read to let your brain turn off and just roll with the story.
Rubbish With Names and Skint Idjit are both 4-stars, and one or both are free right now.
Unlimited but one as freebie and rest thru ku, without coercion, if one doesn't count Star Wars references and other such oddly interesting things. He needs to come sit by me and tell me stories, but until he does I suppose binge reading all to most of his books will have to do me.He ain't 'right' but that may be redundant when saying it to reference a writer; he is interesting to read, which can not be said about all writers.
